DCAESP is...

Professional educators who continue to learn and grow through professional development

Positive about making a difference in the lives of D.C. Public School students and promoting educational excellence in our schools.

Purposeful, because the principal must motivate and empower others to reach their goals. Members strive to make educational decisions that impact students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade in a positive manner.

Purpose of DCAESP

As your profesional association, the District of Columbia Association of Elementary School Principals is dedicated to representing principals and assistant principals - the key leaders in providing quality educational programs to our nation's children.
Mission of the association is to:
  • enhance the quality of children's education through stron educational leadership
  • support members in the provision of schools as caring communities
  • provide opportunities for cooperative correction of common problems
  • serve as a center for the exchange of ideas and information
  • promote fellowship among members
  • contribute to the professional growth of all members
  • serve as the voice of elementary and middle school principals and assistant principals
  • promote equal rights and the elimination of prejudice, bigotry, and discrimination
  • strengthen relationships among principals, schools, parents, and communities.

Membership
The goals and success of DCAESP and NAESP depend on an active, vital, and paid membership. To ensure that every elementary principal and assistant principal are able to help us build the profession, the dues of DCAESP/NAESP remain among the least expensive in the nation. DCAESP/NAESP Joint Membership Categories
Active [$275] For on-line principals, assistant principals, and others employed in professsional work related to the elementary and middle school principalship. Includes all NAESP and DCAESP publications and services.
Institutional Active [$325] Available to all educational institutions. It includes one complete active membership for an individual and a duplicate set of member publications for the institution.
Associate [$150] For professors of education or non-administrators interested in elementary or middle school administration. Members in this category receive DCAESP and NAESP publications and some professional services.
Aspiring Principal [$95] Available to all students, teachers, graduate students, counselors, and others pursuing a career as an elementary or middle-level administrator. Includes all NAESP benefits and services EXCEPT the Legal Benefits Program.
Emeritus
[$130]
Available to all retired DCAESP/NAESP active members. Includes all programs and services of both associations, plus AARP membership.
Retired
[$75]
Available to all retired DCAESP/NAESP active members, or current Emeritus members; members in this category receive Principal Magazine, AARP membership and some NAESP professional services and benefits. However, these members are not eligible to vote or hold association office.
